A review of planter maintenance; set up, specs and practices for optimizing results with plant populations and planter performance-seed meter calibration, fertilizer placement, down pressure and more.
Shawn Bossard has extensive experience in the field, literally. His background includes:
· 5 years on a dairy farm operating 2000+ acres with one of the first manure dragline systems in the state,
· 7 years as an Extension Educator promoting no-till and minimum till practices,
· Managed the dairy and field crop production at SUNY Morrisville where he was responsible for the herd of 200 dairy cows and 2000 crop acres. He honed no-till and minimum till systems along with rolling cover crops, and
· Shawn currently manages the agricultural operations of Cornell's Experiment Station, overseeing 9 different farms including the campus greenhouses.

Information on the Project:- Approximately 10 acres total needed to bale graze two different bale densities
- "Core" farms will graze two winters, "Demo" farms will graze one winter.
- Payments for both "Core" farms and "Demo" farms
- Baseline soil sampling by bale grazing team
- Forage measurements in early season by bale grazing team
- Late season clipping if residual not trampled down by farm
